Body Language Blunders to
Avoid!
As the old saying goes “Actions speak louder than words”
The same applies to a job interview.
Here’s a list of Body Language Blunders you
should avoid!
1 – Gesturing wildly
Keep your hand gestures within the frame of your body
If they go out of your body, it looks like you're out of control
Gestures should be small and controlled
2 – Touching your face
Touching your face and fidgeting shows nervousness
Conveys the wrong messages
Also there’s a myth out there that ‘if you touch your face you're lying!’
3 – Stiff or Slouching
You want to be able to look comfortable but attentive
Don’t appear too stiff or slouched
Relax a bit so that you don’t look inflexible
4 – Folding the hands
Such a pose makes you looked reserved and very passive
Interviewers like to see someone more charismatic
Hands should be relaxed on the table or on your lap
5 – Leaning back
Leaning back in your chair shows indifference or disinterest
It also conveys you have a relaxed and casual attitude towards the interview
Conversely, leaning forward conveys interest
Thank you!
