Header: The header lists possible features in the magazine or something that the magazine has to offer in this case its “the essential music guide” this is a key selling point and is something that will attract people who are interested in music.

The main image:The main image here is of the very well known Coldplay who are an Indi/rock band with an extremely large fan base who would buy the magazine purely for the “world exclusive “ of Coldplay. The pose that the band are in gives of a professional and serious feel with the lead singer at the front.

Barcode:The barcode on the front cover of this magazine follows the conventions of having the price and issue information on the front of the magazine .This makes the magazine feel more official and lets you know that its professionally made media text and product.

The Footer: The footer essentially does the same as the footer just smaller it here tells us that the magazine contains here the footer tells us about the reviews of the listed things. that will be featured in the magazine.

Cover lines:The cover lines are the other stories and features that are in the magazine but aren't the main attraction to the buyers the font size tends to be smaller with selected words in bright colours

Colour schemeThe colour scheme is very simple it consists of red, whte and black with yellow being the colour of the main story/bands name “Coldplay” to attract attention to the fact they have a “world exclusive” the rest mainly blends in with “u2” in red against the white which contrast against one another making it stand out even though the text size is smaller that the main story.

The smaller images are the less appealing stories meaning the magazine knows they'll appeal to people but there are other stories more than others and here the main story is an exclusive with a large image that takes up most of the page .

The main image represents the main story on page 34 we no this from the cleaver corner markers in orange which contrast with the black/grey image and draws are attention to it more also the word exclusive is splashed across the info about the story and the image linking the two together

The exclusive is a stamp style font and is in a medium/small font meaning that the story may only appeal to certain types of people.

The header has the date of the issue in a stylish large font and the word “contents” telling us that this is the contents page the colours orange white and brown work well together and contrasts making each stand out well.

The masthead is the name of the magazine “drummer” this is in the largest font and takes up a large amount of the page making the contents look fuller than it is and making it seem there is more contents. The features/articles are listed with the page number the font sizing is don't very well as because the font is smaller it makes it look like it has more content and because the page number are larger and in brighter font it makes it stand out.

The masthead: the masthead is a simple design being the same as the magazine logo letting us no which magazine this is from. The header: the header is

simple and is just a black strip across the top of the page with “this week” this could be seen at the masthead also but the “NME” is the main masthead. With the strip stopping towards the end for the band index.

The font style and size: the font style is simple and tend to be one font the size varies with the masthead mainly being large and bold with a contrasting extremely small list on the left side of bands and then the medium font size for the main story and then the smaller for the article.

Main image: the main image takes up a small 1/3 of the page and is of a band performing and with a small paragraph relating tot eh image underneath the image is a natural pose and unstated. The rawness of the image makes the reader trust the magazine that the contents is real and shows the band in action.

Grab/sell lines:The main grab line here is “everyone got on...” as it is the largest in font size and has a large image to go with it along with a short paragraph beginning the story. The rest of the grab/sell lines are of a small/medium font with the list of bands in small and the articles being medium under subtitles. Colour scheme:The colour scheme consists of four main colours these being red, white, black and yellow. The red against the white stand s out and the white against the black stands out this makes the page seem busier than it is and the articles stand out more the yellow text being an advert of a subscription deal to the magazine this is an eye grabbing colour and makes it stand out more than the rest.

Masthead: the masthead here is broken up into 3 lines making the page look quirky and makes it stand out the font is large and in bold black and a simple font style

Colour scheme: the colour scheme is very simple as the page is in black and white with a hint of blue in the grey parts. The only thing on the page that's in its natural colour is the heart on the main image but the red in just in bolder black that others keeping the contents looking stylish and sophisticated.

Font size and style: the font size is very similar other than the masthead “contents” the rest is all in a medium/small font there is a variation in the style of font on some stories clearly trying to highlight that specific storyline.

Main image: the main image is of a well known artist posing in a natural stance the image is a lay over and doesn't have a border the image is also in black and white other that the heart a woman is holding this could link into the main story .

This contents has 3 images for individual smaller articles that will feature in the magazine.
