The Central processing unit (CPU) is the brain of the computer.
It controls everything that goes on inside the computer.
3. CPU Advanced
The CPU is connected to the motherboard by a ZIF socket and
then connected to the heat sink using thermal compound. You Can get
a duel core processor or an Intel core processor these are your
makes off CPU
4. Hardrive
The Hardrive is used to save you work to so all the work you
save you will find on the Hardrive.
5. Hardrive Advanced
You can also create a Slave drive to the Hardrive this will
help increase your memory so you have more space to save your work.
You can also make up to 4 partitions on your Hardrive. Hardrives
come in all different sizes from 1GB to 1 terabyte.
6. Graphics card
A graphics card is found on the motherboard and this is
something that provides the computer with graphics.
7. Graphics card Advanced
If you have a good graphics card it will have more pixels than
one that is not as good so this means you will have better
graphics.
8. Motherboard
The motherboard is found inside the base unit you will find
things such as Ram, Rom , Graphics card, video card etc on
this.
9. Motherboard Advanced
Motherboards can have different form factors they can come in
all different shapes and sizes and they will also change depending
on whether you have a laptop or a computer.
10. USB Connector
A USB connector is a slot on your computer where you can place
an USB device e.g. memory stick to load data on to your
computer.
11. USB Connector Advanced
USB stands for Universal serial bus. You can get different
types of USB you can get USB 1.0, USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. USB 2.0 is
the fastest out of all off them while USB 1.0 is the slowest. USB
is also hot swappable.
12. Heat sink The heat sink sits on top off the CPU and
transfers heat away from the CPU which then prevents the computer
from over-heating . These all also generallymade from aluminium.
13. Heat Sink Advanced The heat sink sits on top of the CPU but you
can get different types off ways off cooling the CPU down. You can
get a fan that sits on top off then heat sink or you can get a
water cooling system that will also transfer the heat away from the
CPU. 14. Ram Ram stands for random access memory this is a form off
computer data storage. This allows you to edit your work once it
has been saved. 15. Rom
Rom stands for read only memory, this is also a data storage
device but if you store work in rom this means your work is then
not able to be modified.
16. Eprom
Eprom stands for erasable program read only memory and this is
a memory chip that retains data once the power supply for the
computer is switched off.
17. Adapter cards
PCI is used for attaching hardware devices in a computer, these
can be fitted onto the motherboard itself or of an integrated
circuit.
PCIe ( peripheral component interconnect express) is a computer
expansion card that has a few improvements over other bus standards
such as lower I/O pin count.
18. SATA
SATA ( serial advanced technology attachment is a computer bus
and is used to connect host bus adapters and mass storage
devices.
19. PATA
PATA is an interface standard for the connection of storage
devices such as solid-state drives, hard disks and floppy
drives.
20. SCSI
SCSI ( small computer system interface) is used for physically
connecting or transferring data between peripheral devices or
computer
