XPCode Product Line The XPCode family of RFID tags from Telaeris is specifically designed for industrial applications and use in higher temperature environments than are traditionally supported by regular RFID solutions. The XPCode line uses the EPC Gen 2 standard for RFID. Printed tag information and the shape of the metal heat bracket can be customized.

What is RFID?

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is an advancement over other methods for identifying and tracking products and equipment. Bar codes and other visible labels can get covered over, scratched, or fade with time, and are limited to the amount of data that can be stored (usually only a product code). With radio frequency identification, information is stored electronically on tiny computer chips and can be read over a distance using radio waves.

Basic tags can store unique serial numbers for tracking items, while advanced tags can hold additional information such as service history or purchase records, which may not be desirable to physically display on the item. When activated by an RFID scanning device coming into range, tags will interact with the RFID reader, allowing information to be read from the tag, and in some cases, written to the tag. Some types of specialized tags can include different types of sensors to record activity, such as temperature changes for refrigerated cargoes. When used in the supply chain, RFID can yield greater efficiencies in processing and distributing, as well as greater certainty over the authenticity and quality of goods. RFID in already in use in many industries to improve efficiency in tracking items and equipment.
