Monotremes
Monotremes lay eggs, but feed their young milk. Examples: Platypus, Spiny Anteaters, echidnas.
Marsupials
Marsupials bear their young that complete their development in an external pouch.Examples: Wallabies, Kangaroos
Placental Mammals
In placental mammals, nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide and wastes are exchanged with the mother embryo together through the placenta. Most mammals are placental mammals.
Biology of Mammals
Similar ecological opportunities on the different continents have produced some striking examples of convergent evolution in mammals.
