“Working with employees to create plans that develop and improve their skills in areas they feel passionate about makes for a fulfilled workforce. Whether it be attending a conference, mentoring sessions with others within the organisa-tion or attending a training course, investing in employees’ personal growth and

career progression is a great way to empower them and make them feel valued.”

In addition to welcoming staff input, Evans found that working with his em-ployees to set goals and enhance their skills gives them a sense of gratification. When employees are passionate about the work they create, the results are simply better.

Companies need a culture that encourages and fosters open communication across organisational boundaries which

will help employees be more productive, as opposed to one

which creates separation and one way instruction.

Innovation and progress can originate in the simple adjustment of management concepts. It’s apparent that engaging staff in a less hierarchi-cal structure is favourable for both the company and employee. Creating an open, collaborative environment where ideas can be voiced will benefit a company much more than the standard vertical management approach.

“There have been huge changes in workplace cultures over last 15 years; from dress codes, the age of company executives and senior managers,

flexible working hours, remote working and being ‘always connected.”

So what trends can we see in the future? And can we look forward to more advances in the way our companies operate? It definitely seems possible. For the first time ever, organizations are growing, not only monetarily, but also in the way they connect with their employees. Technology is paving the way for how we will continue to communicate with one another.
