Basic Information
• Mel is the Michigan e-Library that is funded by the state of Michigan. It is free to all Michigan Residence.
• One of the databases on MeL is “General Reference Center Gold”
• It is recommended for general users and is a one-stop access to general interest information

To get to General Reference Center Gold click on Mel Databases
This Page will come up.
Scroll Down Until you see General Reference Center Gold and Click on it
When you click the General Reference Center Gold You will be directed to this page.
To Search type what your researching in the search box here
When you do a general search you will be directed to a page that looks like this
When you do a search, five tabs will appear at the top of the screen. These tabs include articles from magazines, academic journals, books, news, and multimedia.
When the results come up from your search details including Title, Publisher and, details will show up next to the searches. This is useful when trying to find a specific article.
When you find your desired link and click on it will direct you to a page like this one.
Notice the box on the right hand side of the screen. This box holds many helpful tools including: a Citation tool where it cites the source for you, a print preview which gets it in printing format and a MP3 tool which allows you put the readspeaker version of it on your iPod.
If your trying to look at a specific part of what your searching click on the browse publications tab here.
It will direct you to a page that looks like this where you type your search in this box.
Once you run you search you can click on the plus sign here which will show you the subdivision of you search.
I’m going to look at the subdivision Humor and Anecdotes.
When I do this I’m directed to articles that deal with the humor that may surround my subject. There are many different subdivisions that could really make your life easier
