INTRODUCTION• Among the various means of transportation , a highway covers

the widest area of landmass . In context of present scenario , spaces required for energy generation are becoming scare day by day .Solar panels have been laid beside road , Wind turbines have been installed in breezy areas ;but the highways themselves continue to be the least utilized zone .

Electricity generating road rib is a conceptual design thatmakes use of the wasted yet available energy procured fromthe unused energy that has not been converted from thevehicle fuel. A moving vehicle makes the rib move as well,which helps generate new renewable energy. The methodsto generate electricity through road ribs are as follows:1. Using Crank-shaft mechanism2. Using Roller mechanism3. Using Rack- Pinion mechanism4. By moving wind mill through the high velocitysprings downside the road air due to pressure differenceproduced by5. By moving a magnet in a coil under the road ribs

WORKING• There is actually transformation of kinetic energy of the car to

electric energy.• The rotor is directly connected to the prime mover and rotates as the prime mover turns. The rotor contains a magnet that, when turned, produces a moving or rotating magnetic field. The rotor is surrounded by a stationary casing called the stator, which contains the wound copper coils or windings. When the moving magnetic field passes by these windings, electricity is produced in them

• We use a 555 IC and BC-547 NPN transistor in designing the circuit for generation of power .

• Ribs carry a permanent magnet and when car passes on it the ribs rotate resulting the generation of magnetic field .

• This rotor when placed in a stator consisting of copper wounding electricity is generated

• Pulse is generated using 555 IC and then use NPN transistor for amplification of the pulse which can then be used for various applications.

When automobile vehicle are running on the specialized Speed Breaker. This will create pressure on the pressure leaver which is kept under specialized speed breaker. As a result flywheel will rotate and this rotation of the flywheel will cause the DC generator to produce electricity. This electricity can be stored by a rechargeable battery by charging the battery. The produced or stored electricity is used for lighting bulb during night time on the road side.

• Generation of power without polluting the environment. • Simple construction, mature technology and easy

maintenance. • No fuel transportation required. • No consumption of any fossil fuel which is non-renewable

source of energy. • No external source is needed for power generation. • Almost renewable source of energy as road is always and keep on expanding facilitating the growth of population

Currently we have speed breakers and ribs of rigid type, made of steel or with tar.

This project requires slight changes in the current roads. This project can be successful by changing the material of road ribs and/or by changing the designing of road ribs.

BY CHANGING THE MATERIAL OF ROAD RIBS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT

The design is a single rubber housing which contains two strips of magnets and a configuration of induction coils.

BY IMPROVED DESIGNINGOF SPEED BREAKERThe speed breakers/ribs are fitted with helical spring at the base. The shape of speed breaker/rib is trapezoidal.

SCOPE IN INDIA The electricity deficit India is facing is acute and needs a full

proof solutions to be implemented through alternative means India has the second-largest road network in the world. Roads are one of very few means which connect even the

remotest part of this country. The no. of vehicles in this country has seen a sharp increase. The Govt. keeps on pressing for an even wider expansion of

our road network as well as a greater energy production and this concepts encourages both and helps achieve both.

This also is a serious and more effective measure towards rural electrification.

In coming days, it will prove a great boon to the world, since it will save a lot of electricity of power plants that gets wasted in illuminating the street lights. As the conventional source are depleting very fast, then it’s time to think of alternatives. We got to save the power gained from the conventional sources for efficient use. So this idea not only provides alternative but also adds to the economy of the country.
