Nonprofits looking to raise more funds and expand donor base

necessarily have money to donate

“The traditional foundation model of giving is broken. There just aren’t enough dollars in the world to solve its problems. What we need is social entrepreneurship and a model that has a multiplicative effect in leveraging existing dollars”

Vinod Khosla, Founder SUN Microsystems and VC

We need new and innovative models that focus on the untapped potential in

charitable giving

• GoodInKind invites people in your city who support your mission to offer whatever skill, talent, or service they have for sale on our site

• The person offering the service sets the price for the service and designates your organization as the recipient of the money

• GoodInKind then helps the person offering the service to connect with other people in your city who want to purchase that service, in a fun and easy way

• Both parties know that the payment will go to you, the nonprofit

We believe this will significantly expand charitable giving

There are no barriers to participation

• Anybody - our core belief is that everyone has some skill, talent or service to offer

• Any service - again, we believe everyone has some talent or skill to post on GoodInKind

• Any time – participation is not tied to any specific fundraising event, charity auction, or seasonal campaign

• Any amount – there is no minimum, as every dollar raised for a worthy cause is valuable

• Any worthy cause - provided the nonprofit is a registered 501(c)3

THE OFFER

Let’s say there’s an individual in Ithaca who feels very strongly about the good work done by your organization. Maybe he has written a check in the past, but he’d really like to help out more.

GoodInKind will encourage him to think about all of the things he does well and can offer – his hidden talents, his trade skills, his knowledge of sign language, his ability to juggle – things he might never had thought had any real value for supporting your mission.

GoodInKind provides an easy-to-use platform for offering that in-kind skill, talent or service so that it can be turned into a cash donation for your organization.

THE CONNECTION

The offerer simply describes his skill, talent or service on the site, names a price, and designates your organization as the recipient of the funds.

Potential buyers of that service will be browsing GoodinKind either looking for people who can provide a particular service, or looking for ways to help their favorite charity.

GoodInKind makes it easy and fun for offerers and buyers to connect, communicate with each other and make arrangements for the service (such as the juggling lesson).

THE TRANSACTION

Once the offerer provides the service for the buyer, the parties confirm that the transaction is complete and the buyer makes payment through GoodInKind.

GoodInKind then transfers the funds to you as the designated nonprofit, and provides you with contact information to send acknowledgements to both parties.

THE RESULT

• Your organization has received a cash donation while engaging at least two people as either new or repeat supporters, at no cost to you.

• The person offering the service has generated cash support for his favorite nonprofit while using his skill, talent or service in a fun and socially active way.

• The buyer has obtained a needed service in an easy and enjoyable way while supporting a worthy cause and perhaps meeting someone with shared interests.
