Pneumatic is a branch of physics applied to technology that makes use of gas or pressurized air.

Air fitting: A standardized part of a piping system used for attaching sections of pipe together, such as

a coupling, elbow, bend, cross, or tee.

A suitable shape is important for the air tools. Making sure that the fittings are in good shape is a

necessary part of keeping this equipment in its optimal working condition. These fittings maintain

a constant flow of air and pressure within the hoses so that the performance of the air tools is not

compromised.

Types of pneumatic air fittings

When choose a pneumatic air fittings, below factors need to be considered:

• Working pressure

• Working environment

• Working temperature

• Fluid type ( air, water, oil, etc)

• Fitting material (plastic, brass, stainless steel)

• Shape (straight, elbow, etc.)

• Size (pipe size and thread size)

• Approvals needed (for example: Department of Transportation, Underwriters Laboratory, FDA)

How to choose the correct air fitting

6. Size: Pipe size has metric and inch two typies; the thread mainly includes BSPP, BSPT, NPT

three types. (1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/8", 1")

7. Advantage: Plastic is light and able to withstand a significant amount of pressure.

Moreover, plastic fittings are very affordable.

8. Disadvantage: Can't understand high pressure and high temperature, the fluid only for air.

Features:

1. Fluid type: Air ( No other gases or liquids ).

2. Working pressure: 0-150psi

3. Negative pressure: -29.5 in Hg

4. Working pressure: 0-60 degree

5. Body material: PBT; Release sleeve: POM; Sealing: NBR; Collar: Nickle-plated Zinc; Lock claw:

SUS; Metal body: Nickle-plated Brass; Thread: Pre-coated sealant; O Ring: NBR

When you choose plastic push

in fittings, you need to know the

usage and specifications. Usually

it used for low pressure system

environment, PU hose is most

suitable for the plastic push in

fitting.

• Plastic push in fitting

Plastic push in fitting is designed for Polyurethane and Nylon tubing, can be used for a regular

working environment, mainly fluid is air.

TIPS

The attitude of manufacturer is also very

important, XHnotion usually test the

fitting in water 5%, in air 100%, a good

manufacturer will always care more the

quality instead of the price.

3• Brass push in fittingThey are generally made from nickel-plated brass, though some composite fittings made of glass-reinforced nylon

are available as well. Brass push in fittings are easy to disconnect and reconnect, making them excellent for any

environment where frequent changes are necessary. They are usable with nylon, polyurethane, PE and some less

common tube types.

Features:

1. Fluid: Compressed air

2. Working pressure: -0.8-15bar

3. Application tube: PU, PE, PA tube.

4. Size: Pipe size has metric and inch two types, thread side has BSPP, BSPT, NPT three types. (1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/8",1")

5. Working pressure: -10-60 degree

6. Advantage: It has a easy structure, can be used for high temperature environment. They are more durable and cost

effective.

7. Disadvantage: It's not allowed in a corrosive environment.

When choose the brass push in fitting, there

is one point should be noticed that if the claw

will hurt the hose. If it's made by a precision

machine, it can avoid this issue. The elasticity

of collect button also will be a factor which

influence the price, full elasticity collect button

has a good feeling.

TIPS

The internal seal is a factor which limit the

environmental temperature, NBR, VITON,

PTFE seal are available. BSPP thread also

has NBR, NYLON, PTFE seal are available.

8. The internal seal is a factor which limit the environmental temperature, VITON, PTFE seal are available.

9. Advantage: The materials ensure Anti-corrosion highly ,all of them are made from

SUS316 expect the seal ring. High temperature and high pressure and

corrosive environment are available.

10. Disadvantage: As it has a good performance, the only one disadvantage is the high of the price.

There are many reasons stainless steel is

popular in a variety of industries. It is a

winner mainly because it is resistant to

corrosion and staining, low maintenance

and relatively low in cost. If the enviroment

need to use the stainless steel fitting,

• Stainless steel push in fitting

Stainless steel push-in fittings allow fast circuit assembly for conveying compressed air, gas or liquids at a wide

range of pressures and temperatures. Connection and disconnection is immediate and manual.Usually the

material is SS316, so it allows corrosive gas and liquid to through.

The stainless steel collet design ensures superior clamping with various types of tube such as nylon, polyethylene

and polyurethane. Used in pneumatic applications like robotics, conveyer systems, and any system requiring the

transfer of compressed air or liquids compatible with the materials of manufacture.

TIPSthe application shoud be noticed, PU, PE,

PTFE, etc are available except the metal

tube. It also has varity size can be chose,

metric and inch size. The features can be a

help for you to choose a suitable stainless

steel push in fitting.

3• Push on fitting

Push on fitting is also named rapid screw fitting, it's used for pneumatic industrial widely.

Push on fitting to used for pneumatic soft tube, it can grasp the pipe steadily.

The swivel part can avoid the twining of the pipe, so it's more steady than normal fittings.

Features

1. No special tools or clamps are required for installation.

2. Assemblies can be done in seconds.

3. Push-On fittings are reusable. Just replace the hose with no special tools.

4. Faster and easier maintenance.

5. Fluid Type: compressed air (For other fluid, please contact us).

6. Working Pressure: -0.8~15 bar.

7. Application Tube: PU, PE, PA tubes.

8. Working Temperature: -10~60 degree

9. Size: Thread side has BSPT, BSPP, NPT and metric size are available; hose diameter has

millimeter and inch two types. (1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/8", 1")

10. Advantage: The nut can grasp the hose steadily, it can work in a high temperature and

high pressure environment. This fitting is more reliable than other fittings.

11. Disadvantage: Has no quick connect function, it need a wrench to tighten the nut.

Before choose, a features of it need to

know. Usually a soft tube is more suit for

this fitting, because the screw nut can grasp

the hose tightly. Then consider the working

environment, it can be used for a high

pressue,

TIPS

if you used for a normal working

environment, you can choose other type

fitting to save cost. Sometimes, a special

shape is also required, like straight, elbow,

tee, x, etc.

A Compression Fitting relies on a nut or other similar device being screwed down over a ferrule,

compressing it. The compression of the ferrule causes it to bow inward, compressing the tube, the

fitting, and the receiving fitting together to form a tight seal. Compression fittings are appropriate

for copper, aluminum, and plastic tubes, and are themselves usually made of brass.

Features:

1. No flaring or soldering needed.

2. Tube compatibility: Available in inch dimension only, Copper, Aluminum, Thermoplastic.

3. Thread availability: Male pipe , Female pipe.

4. Body material: Brass.

5. Used for high pressure environment.

6. Working pressure and temperature depend on tube pressure.

7. Fluid Type: water, air, oil, diesel, and other fluids.

8. Advantage: Nylon tube and metal tube are available, fluid types are diversified, and has

a wildely usage in different environment.

9. Disadvantage: The price is higher than normal fiting, and only has brass material.

• Compression fitting

Compression fittings do not typically

have the long life that sweat connections

offer, but are advantageous in many cases

because they are easy to install using basic

tools. It can be used for high temperature

environment, and work well to fit copper

tubes.

TIPSCompression fittings consist of a tapered

concave conical seat, a hollow barrel-

shaped compression ring ( "ferrule"), and a

compression nut which is threaded onto the

body of the fitting and tightened to make a

leakproof connection.

1. Fluid type: Air, water, oil, diesel and other liquids.

2. Working temperature: -40-120 degree

3. Working pressure: 0-50bar

4. Size: Threas has BSPP, BSPT, NPT and metric size are available. (1/8", 1/4", 1/2", 3/8", 1")

5. Material: Regular material is brass Nickle-plated, steel and stainless steel are available. Surface treatment has chrome

plated, zinc plated and nickle plated.

6. Shape: Straight, elbow, "x", "y", etc.

7. Advantage: Structure is simple, no additional sealants ,easy to fit different fittings, it can endure a high pressure and

temperature environmetn.

8. Disadvantage: Not convenient to tighten the joint, sometimes need to notice the leak.

Choose a brass connector need to fit the fittings,

a correct pipe size is necessary. Sometimes to

prevent the leak, thread size should add a seal

or surface coated. They also should have similar

techinical data to ensure the ability of the

currency.

TIPSThe most important is to choose the thread

standard: BSPP, BSPT, NPT. It is related to the

connection performance.
