How To Setup Your DVR For Remote Viewing This article we will be explaining how to connect your DVR for remote viewing over the Internet. First you want to connect your DVR with a CAT5 or Network Cable to a Router or Hub. Next go to your computer, press the start button, go to run, then type in “cmd”. This will bring up a black box, called a DOS Interface. Here you will want to type in “ipconfig” this will give you your Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection, or your IP address of your computer. Also, this will display your Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. Your Default Gateway is the address of your Router. Example: Ipv4 Address 192.168.1.128 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 Now ping an address different than your IP, say 192.168.1.145, keeping the first three digits the same, just changing the last digit. You want to find an address on your network that does not respond, so you will not have an IP conflict. If you ping 192.168.1.145 and get no reply, then this is a safe address to enter into your DVR. If you receive a reply, then this means someone else on your network already has this IP address and you can not use that number. Now you are ready to enter this ip address into your DVR. Go to the Menu and then find the Network Tab. Our Default port is 2000, and 80 is the default HTTP port for the Internet, just make sure these are entered. Enter your IP, same subnet mask, and default gateway into the DVR. Make sure the DHCP Box is NOT checked, as this will grab an IP address automatically. Also use TCP/IP as your protocol. That is the setup for your Computer and DVR - finished! Now you need to open port 2000 in your Router, so in your Internet Explorer, type in the address of your router, if you remember it was the default gateway (192.168.1.1). From here, you will need to consult your Router Manual, sometimes the password for your Router is actually a sticker on the Router, on the bottom, or the side. Also there is a website that is very helpful, it's address is www.portforward.com , this site has some tools you will find useful. Now install our VMS Software and enter the IP addresses you have. And your done! RUGGED CAMS www.ruggedcams.com 1-866-301-2288
