As you move to build out a private cloud infrastructure, storage looms as a major private cloud component that will have a major impact on deployment success. This breakout session will guide the audience through storage technology considerations for common private cloud scenarios. Participants will learn the importance of storage technologies such as Thin Provisioning, Tiered Storage, Replication, Multi-tenancy, and Mixed Workload to private cloud implementation and use cases. In addition this session will explore how these storage technologies can be integrated into a VMware based private cloud environment using technologies such as Thin Persistence, vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI), vStorage APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA), and vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM). Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of storage requirements for different types of private cloud use cases, how VMware integration technologies factor into private cloud deployments, as well as private cloud storage provisioning process. Basic understanding of storage technology is recommended but not required.

There are multiple ways to deploy multi-site VM and data replication. This presentation will describe a set of detailed best practices to plan, setup, deploy, troubleshoot and operate a remote copy infrastructure using Site Recovery Manager in conjunction with HP EVA Continuous Access Software and the HP EVA Replication Adapter for VMware Site Recovery Manager. A building block approach is used to design the complete solution, providing a step-by-step set of best practices to deploy the requisite technical components from VMware and HP, showing the relationships and interdependencies. Highlights of this presentation will also include the differences between configuration of the new adapter from HP with the latest version of VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM 5.0) compared to the previous versions of VMware SRM and EVA adapter.
