The Wacken Open Air is a Heavy Metal Festival which takes place in the north of Deutschland every year since 1990.

It brings together the biggest heavy metal bands of the world, like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Saxon, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Kreator, Mayhem etc.

There were something like 800 “metalheads” for the first edition in 1990. Now more than 75.000 of them come each year from all over the world.

Presentation

The festival itself is composed of 8 scenes and places dedicated to music and other shows (wrestling, viking battles, etc. ).

The village of Wacken and its inhabitants themselves help and participate in the festival’s organization.
