Main applications:

NON-IONIC & ANIONIC SURFACTANTS for I&I, Personal Care, Textile, Leather:

By definition a surfactant decreases the surface tension of a medium and in particular of water. In our markets the surfactant is quite often

identified with the foam it produces. By different addition of EO (and PO) to a fatty alcohol (linear or branched) or to other backbones, or

by sulf(on)ation of non-ionics we can obtain different types of foam: from the soft with big bubbles of a shampoo to the very thick and

persistent of a shaving creams or to the controlled and non-persistent for textile and leather applications .

EMULSIFIERS for Textile, Pulp & Paper, Agrochemicals, Personal Care & Cosmetics, Oil, Mining, Drilling, Leather, Emulsion

Polymerization

Oil in Water (O/W) and Water in Oil (W/O), direct and inverse emulsions are heterogeneous systems whose formation, stability and

performance depend on the correct choice of emulsifiers. HLB ( Hydrophilic-Lipophilic balance) is the basic concept which describes the

behavior of an emulsifier. It can be modified by choosing the correct lipophylic backbone (e.g.: fatty acid , castor oil, fatty alcohol) and

hydrophilic head (EO, EO/PO, Phosphate esters etc). Lamberti presents one of the widest portfolio of emulsifiers tailored for the different

market sectors applications.

DETERGENTS: for Textile, Leather, I&I

In the common sense detergency means the removal of water insoluble particles from a substrate (a fabric, skin, hard surface etc). A

detergent can be represented as a molecule with two moieties: a lipophilic which adsorbs onto the oil and fat droplets and an hydrophilic

which brings the fats into the water. Classic Anionic (sulf(on)ated, sulfosuccinates) and non-ionic surfactants like branched fatty alcohol

ethoxylates (e.g. Rolfor TR8/L) or innovative green products like Esters of Alkyl-poly-glucosides (Eucarol AG-EC), are typical detergents

present in our range.

WETTING AGENTS: Textile, Agrochemicals, Cosmetics, Leather, Building

When a water solution is spread over an hydrophobic surface or particle, it can be necessary to shorten the time by which the surface or

particle get wet. The process is helped by addition of wetting agents. Typical wetting are Anionic surfactants (sulf(on)ates,

sulfossucinates ) and non-ionic like (C8-13) alcohol ethoxylates. Again the correct choice depends on HLB and on the structure of the

products.

DISPERSING AGENTS: Agrochemicals, Drilling and Mining, Pigments, Ceramics

Dispersion is a heterogeneous system where a solid (e.g. a pigment) or an oil droplet (like a pesticides) is suspended into water (or

Dispersion is a heterogeneous system where a solid (e.g. a pigment) or an oil droplet (like a pesticides) is suspended into water (or

oil/solvent) The system is naturally unstable: to avoid syneresis, precipitation, caking or re-crystallization we have to use special

molecules that generally have an hydrophobic tail with strong affinity to the dispersed particles - so as to get adsorbed (reversibly or un-

reversibly) onto the solid particles surface - and an hydrophilic head (ionic or nonionic) with strong affinity to the water. Electrostatic

and/or steric repulsions avoid precipitation and re-crystallization. Lamberti has a wide range of Dispersing Agents: from classic non-ionic

(e.g.: EO/PO copolymers, amine or tristyrylphenol alkoxylates) or anionic (e.g.: phosphate and sulfate esters of macromolecular

backbones) up to novel POLYMERIC SURFACTANTS.

DEFOAMERS: Pulp & Paper, Coatings,

Tailored polysiloxane formulations and special non-ionic adducts can be use to avoid foam's formation during the different manufacturing

and application processes. In Coatings and Papers massive quantities of antifoaming agents are applied but quite all industrial processes

need them.

ADJUVANTS: Agrochemicals

Improving biological performance of a pesticide is a becoming more and more important in Crop Protection to reduce concentration of

poisoning materials, improve handling and safety of operators and consumers. Adjuvant can work as a real co-active ingredient when it

shows a synergic effect with the pesticide, or can help penetration into leaf or soil (wetter) , or improve rain fastness (spreader and

sticker) by prolonging the activity of the pesticides, or simply avoid drift during the spray (antidrift).

Lamberti can provide a wide portfolio of adjuvants designed for the most selective applications: combinations of surfactants in form of

emulsions and micro emulsions (e.g.: patented MICROBIO) or "green products" like patented EUCAROL AGEs are some of our products.
