• LOAD HAUL DUMP(LHD) TRUCK•
L.H.D TRUCKS A load haul dump truck (LHD), also known as a scoop tram, is a specialized loading machine manufactured for the underground mining industry. LHDs are used to scoop extracted ore, such as coal, with a bucket, load it into the cart, and dump it in the bottom of the mine to undergo primary crushing before being hoisted to the surface out of the mine
WORKING OF A LHD The LHD is a machine that travels at modest speeds and consists of internal and external
components. The internal parts are- 1. a bucket, 2. a small engine, 3. an emission exhaust, 4. a diesel exhaust treatment device, 5. tires and tire accessories, 6. and ventilation systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS The LHD was modelled to fit under restricted heights and narrow areas within a
mine. It consists of a long, low and narrow profiler, which makes it adaptable to mines of all sizes. Because of its size, manoeuvring the LHD is awkward but beneficial as it evenly distributes the axle weight of the vehicle to allow for a larger bucket size.

DEVELOPMENT IN LHD- The LHD is an important tool in the process of underground haulage. After all, LHDs are
not just used for loading dump trucks, as these machines can carry out valuable haulage work when moving material into ore passes. Technology is moving fast in this sector, as many of the major manufacturers are developing highly automated machines.
NEW FEATURES:- Remote control has been available for LHDs for some time and this has certainly increased
safety levels in dangerous applications but these systems are becoming ever more sophisticated.
One operator will be able to drive up to three LHDs at a time from a remotely-sited station.
Now narrow vein LHDs are now more powerful and have higher capacities than would have been possible in the past.
