Introduction – instructor

Instructor: Prof.Dr.Bernhard Katzy

- PhD in industrial management from University of Technology (RWTH) Aachen in Germany and a second Ph.D. (habilitation) in general management and technology management from University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

- Professor @ University BW Munich (DE) and Leiden University (NL); and director of CeTIM Center for Technology and Innovation Management.

- Research interest is about entrepreneurial management of fast growing high-tech firms and the management of strategic change in the transition to the information age

Introduction – What does “innovation” really mean

Innovation is not about knowledge in form of papers or patents of in form of basic inventions, but a process about their application in society

Note: in this course innovation and technology innovation are substitutes for each other, except for special emphasis

Grading

– Class Participation (50%)

Result of quick tests at the beginning of each class(30%). Your active participation in the discussion in class (20%) is integral to the design of this course 

– Final paper (50%)

The final paper is to be written solo, in response to the topics offer in class. You are invited to propose your own topic to the instructor. It is due on April 26, 2012 and should be 10 pages in length (Format: , Font size 12pt, 1.5 line spacing).
