Meat Loaf Documentary

By Tom Kenwright

Type Of Documentary

This Documentary is a Mixed Documentary as it contains Archive Footage, A range of elements that support the opinions, Narration and Interviews.

Theme

The theme of this Meat Loaf Documentary is mainly about music as a whole but also contains factors of the Awards Ceremony's and how Music is Marketed across the world. Meat Loaf did a lot of promotional work for his albums so it could get heard across the whole world, this may of cost him a lot of time and money but as we see it makes his tracks get heard.

Sound and Editing

Non Diegetic sound was used throughout the Documentary this was of Meat Loafs songs which were played in the background of nearly every seen. The Diegetic sound that we heard was from the interviewee's talking and in some cases Meat Loaf when he was acting for some of his music video scenes. We did not hear a Narrator in this documentary but the Interviewee's often spoke over the cutaways which what they were saying related to so Narration was not needed.

Narrative Structure

There was a person Narrating over the top of the documentary but also the Interviewee's were talking over a lot of the clips.

CAMERA WORK

Most of the interviewee's were shot to one side of the frame with a blue screen in the background. In one section of the Documentary we see that the camera flips one of the interviewee's from one side to the other which is a big mistake to make.A shot of people sat around a table makes them look like important people. There was live concert footage which gives us a feeling as if we were there at the time experiencing it.

Panning shot across the high street which shows some of the marketing strategies.
