Migrating from Promotions to
Primary on Gmail
Email Marketing Tips
Introduction
Gmail has always been a big wall with aggressive
algorithms on the outposts making it harder for
commercial mailers to pass by.
When the walls strengthen, the urge to jump past the
wall also increases.
With the help of a few clients and our account
managers, we have been able to point out a few.
The Configuration Check
DKIM and SPF configurations matter a lot when it
comes to a domain’s reputation, which in turn effect
the placement of your mailer in the Primary tab of
Gmail.
Text Dominance
Texts alone can do wonders.
If crafted the right way, words can prove to be way
ahead of images in terms of attention seekers.
If your mailer has 20% images, wrap the remaining
80% with text. Make it text dominant.
Reduce the link count
Bring down the number of links in your mailer if keen
on Primary tab placement.
Introduce a level of personalization which ensures
people only get links or products they are interested
in checking thus limiting the number of links
required.
The name can make a difference
When running on the trial and error mode with the
Gmail algorithm, changing the ‘From name’ and the
‘From or reply email address’ can prove worthy.
Aim, Engage and Reap
A mailer with no engagement is a dead mailer.
To have your mailer live through the target audience,
aim it well.
Optimize the list you are targeting and invoke
engagement.
