MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEM DEFINITIONS

● A mobile operating system, also referred to as mobile OS, is an operating system that operates a smartphone, tablet, PDA, or other mobile device.

● A mobile operating system (OS) is software that allows smartphones, tablet PCs and other devices to run applications and programs.

● Mobile devices with mobile communications capabilities (e.g. smartphones) contain two mobile operating systems - the main user-facing software platform is supplemented by a second low-level proprietary real-time operating system which operates the radio and other hardware.

● Android is an operating system based on the designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.

● Initially developed by Android which then bought by Google in 2005.

● The first Android phone was sold in October 2008.

● Android is open source and Google releases the source code under the License.

● Google Play has one million Android applications.

● The user of Android is based on direct to handle, using touch inputs that is to be similar to real-world actions on-screen.

● Internal hardware such as sensors are used by some applications which are responsible to additional user actions, for example adjusting the screen when we turn the android sets.

● iOS (previously iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system developed and distributed by Apple company. Not viewed in 2007 for the iPhone.

● It has been extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPod Touch (September 2007), iPad (January 2010), iPad Mini (November 2012) and second-generation Apple TV (September 2010).

● Unlike Microsoft's Windows Phone and Google's Android, Apple does not license iOS for installation on non-Apple hardware.
