Jan Vandenbrouck, Business Development Manager, TE Connectivity

“Ftth layer1, efficiency in construcion, provisioning and deployment by faster, smarter and better products.”

•  If operators want to keep up with the increasing demand for bandwidth and in order to achieve the EU's goal to connect 50% of the households to more than 100 Mbps by 2020, they will have to develop a new approach.

•  In this presentation, Jan Vandenbrouck will explain how construction, provisioning and deployment can significantly be accelerated by using the right technology at the right place in the network.

“Passive Technology is There… What to Expect Next?”

•  Using state of the art products and solutions brings significant advantages to every participant of FTTH deployments . The main benefits are reflected in the efficiency of the networks' deployment with the implementation of connectors proving high stability during the lifetime of the network in uncontrolled and extreme environments.

•  End to end fibre management is as easy as important is for the quality of the transmission with an optimal fibre management concept. Together with the installation best practices, high quality and modular Layer 1 systems are ''must have'' when deployments are driven by price/performance ratio and when equal attention is given to CAPEX and OPEX.

“Cost Efficient deployment relys on network strategies.”

•  One can choose technology and products to lower costs, but the effect as cost saving means are limit. It's important to view each project as a part of an overall larger deployment of a fibre network. As such it will be an ongoing effort over a longer period. Thus, one of the most cost saving efforts is to make sure deployments originates from long term business strategies and network strategies.

•  Unless this is the case, any network owner may face problems to connect all potential customers and large costs in restructure the network at a later stage.

“Factors of influence driving your efficiency in deploying your passive network in the distribution network and MDU .”

•  Factors of influence driving your efficiency in deploying your passive network in the distribution network and MDU.

Focusing on: •  Cable placement methods from the FCP

(Fibre Concentration Point) to the building. •  Terminations methods and the right fibre

type for the MDU deployment.

“Retractable Techniques in fibre optic infrastructures”

•  The last mile deployments are facing a more and more stringent need of solutions which may be installed in very crowded and narrow pathways. The space inside the handholes, already occupied by the previously installed cables and closures, is very often limited to a very little available volume. The same happens inside the majority of Multi Dwelling Units built some tenths of years ago. The Retractable Techniques, avoiding any need of looping the cable as well as not requiring any space for splicing the fibres, do minimize both the space to be booked and the operation time on site.
