• Multi-touch technology dates back to 1982, when the University of Toronto developed the first finger pressure multi-touch.

• In 1984 Bell Labs engineered a multi-touch screen that could manipulate images with more than one hand.

• In1991 Wellner published a paper on his multi-touch “Digital Desk”, which supported multi-finger and pinching motions.

• Total internal reflection is an optical phenomenon that occurs when a ray of light strikes a medium boundary at an angle larger than the critical angle with respect to the normal to the surface.

• The critical angle is the angle of incidence above which total internal reflection occurs.

• The critical angle is given by:

n2= Refractive index of the less dense medium.

n1= Refractive index of the denser medium.
