Analyzing Three Contents Pages

NMEThe NME contents page is a simple design.

The masthead on this page has the same NME logo as their front cover without the selling line and a simple white font with the words ‘Contents’.

The page is set up with two side, on the right side it shows you the page numbers which are set out in categories which will make it easier if you needed to find an Interview of feature instead of reading through every page.

Below the Page numbers there is an advert for Magazine subscription.

On the left hand side is a summery of this issue with page numbers. The summery shows the reader this issue is a ‘Touring Special’ this also shows an image of an artist with her tour bus.

The NME contents page is different to the other contents page I looked at.

The masthead on this page it on the right middle side, keeping the same NME logo with ‘This Week’ instead of Contents.

There is one large image of the Astoria in London as this issue shows the closure of the infamous building.

The left hand side has the contents it is set out in five categories, which makes it easier for the reader to find certain articles.

On the right hand side there is and Index of all the bands which are appearing in this issue with page numbers they can be seen on.

There is a subscription advert at the bottom to show readers that they can get it delivered to their door at every issue.

KERRANGThe Kerrang contents page uses many images. The page is set in half, the top half shows an image of the band used on the front cover, there is also previews of three other pages, these three images have page number to help the reader find the article.

The Contents font is in the top right hand corner in Yellow using the same font style as the “Kerrang!” logo. There is another masthead on this page below the main image with the “Kerrang!” logo and “This Week” where there are categories of the articles in this issue.

In the categories there are images of the main article within the category and a list of the contents in four blocks.

Beside the Contents on the right hand side there is a Picture and a paragraph of the editor, explaining a cover story in this issue and how she relates to it.
