Diamond Sponsor - Cisco IL-2-3681 - Cisco Systems: An Application-Centric Approach to Managing Your Infrastructure

Wednesday, November 19 – 1:45pm

5 |

This session will provide an overview of Cisco's Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). The rapid evolution of data center architecture, driven by increasing application demands, has exposed a gap between the way applications are designed and the way they are deployed. Application connectivity and the performance, security, and auditing policies they require must be translated from application development teams to infrastructure architects/engineers without a common language. The Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) provides a fully programmable policy based network which integrates security, services and a scalable host routing fabric to support both enterprise network needs as well as SP IaaS/PaaS hosting environments. Learn how the integration of ACI with FlexPod paves the way for an agile infrastructure with secure multi-tenancy characteristics.

VMware End-User Computing technologies allows customers to deliver comprehensive application and desktop virtualization and mobility solutions. Within a customer organization, different end-user requirements often dictate the type of desktop virtualization delivery required – such as on-premises or off-premises, VDI or hosted shared desktops and applications or locally executing desktop. These design decisions allow deployments to be more successful. The End-User Computing portfolio provides these deployment choices through solutions such as Horizon (with View), Horizon DaaS, Horizon Mirage and Workspace portal and Airwatch for enterprise mobility needs.

Four distinct yet increasingly interconnected technology trends: cloud computing, mobile technology, social collaboration, and analytics, are reshaping business and marking a turning point for IT. Individually and collectively, these technologies are rendering traditional data center facility strategies unsustainable or even obsolete. Strategies that worked well just a few years ago can now actually hold companies back because of their inability to handle rapidly rising demands for network and storage scalability and variable power and cooling requirements. Today's data center needs to support more users, more devices, and more applications, along with higher expectations for how and where technology can be used. Learn about the space, power, and cooling implications of cloud computing, mobile technologies, social collaboration, and business analytics, and the techniques that IBM is using to help companies build data centers that hold up in the face of such disruptive technologies.

Today’s hybrid, IT architectures often involve multiple locations (data centers, branch offices, cloud providers, etc.) separated by great distances. Greater distances between users and their data can result in high-latency, increased bandwidth requirements, and poor performance. How can enterprises turn these distance-related challenges into a competitive advantage? Riverbed’s Application Performance Infrastructure solutions enable location independent computing and enable enterprises to deploy modern, hybrid architectures that maintain the performance of single data center architectures. The combined solution of Riverbed SteelFusion and Riverbed SteelHead® enables customers to achieve the full potential of hybrid architectures. Riverbed SteelFusion storage delivery appliances empower IT organizations to pull back data from the branch office and manage it on NetApp storage systems in the data center. Riverbed SteelHead® appliances dramatically accelerate WAN performance for NetApp SnapMirror, overcoming bandwidth and geographical limitations to achieve higher levels of data protection. In this session learn how you can:

Secure remote data in the data center and simplify branch IT. Consolidate branch servers and storage to data center. Centralize branch office backup operations. Accelerate disaster recovery and achieve near instant RTO. Improve RPO with up to 50x performance increase for data replication. Reduce WAN capacity requirements by up to 99%.

Gold Sponsor – SafeNet SC-2-2760 - SafeNet: Three Business Scenarios for Expanding the NetApp Footprint with Security

Today’s organizations have more data than ever to store. Often, much of this data is sensitive; that is, it contains personally identifiable or proprietary information that could be detrimental to the business in the wrong hands. In order to store this data on NetApp storage solutions, customers need to be assured that it will stay secured. This presentation will look at three real world deployments in which NetApp security solutions solved a customer’s problem, and helped to expand the use of NetApp storage within organizations. We will review the customer requirements, the architecture deployed and any technical hurdles encountered, and how NetApp and SafeNet overcame them. Specific case studies may vary to make story more compelling for each audience, but examples could include: - Energy Company: A large European oil and gas company uses ships and satellites to gather intelligence on potential drilling opportunities—vital proprietary information that represented petabytes of exploration data on NetApp drives, but that needed to be safeguarded. Without the proper security, the storage opportunity would be dramatically smaller. - Financial Institution: A large American financial institution with over $500B in assets saw their need for storage dramatically increase. They turned to NetApp for encrypted storage, but needed a way to secure those encryption keys—in a way that would meet stringent regulations. - Service Provider: A midsize infrastructure-as-a-service provider offers NetApp-based storage-as-a-service for their business clients for both primary data and backup data. They need to assure their customers that the backup data will stay secured, and that no one but the customer—not even the service provider—will have access to their data. One more issue: it can’t impact the performance of the primary data.

IDC reports that the market for Converged Infrastructure (CI), also known as Integrated Systems, continues to grow rapidly. Revenue has reportedly jumped an additional 38.5% in the first quarter of this year. CI is in high demand to meet business productivity needs, to bring the cloud to life and is fast becoming essential in enabling the "Internet of Things." This session will discuss Converged Infrastructure, what it is, what it does and how it does it, and how it impacts on and interacts with the physical infrastructure which supports it. Find out how Schneider Electric is working closely with NetApp, Cisco and others to provide 'extended,' integrated solutions that give customers simplified choice and deliver a complete and highly energy efficient IT solution that can be rapidly deployed across an organization, from the core to the edge of the network – from the data center through to the branch office and the SME.

The always-on business requires strict and demanding uptimes, together with great protection and recovery performances. To fulfill these service levels with their stakeholders, IT departments need to leverage any modern technology able to improve their data availability. But this is not an easy task; protection activities during working hours have an impact on production performances, snapshots and their remote copies are powerful, but sometimes cumbersome for restores, and application consistency is not always easy to obtain. As long as the different components of the data center are siloed and not deeply integrated, this is hardly going to change. A tight integration between the data availability solution and the storage is the best solution to solve these problems, and to dramatically improve the level of data availability. Veeam Backup & Replication v8 has introduced support for NetApp FAS and FlexArray storage arrays, and with this technical integration it can execute storage-assisted data protection operations: backups directly from storage snapshots can be executed more frequently, with less impact, even during production hours; and at the same time, Veeam technology offers a complete set of restore capabilities to dramatically minimize downtimes, and easily restore entire virtual machines, virtual disks, single files, or application items. The integration is complete, and can be used in any NetApp deployment scenario: both block (iSCSI, FC) and NFS volumes are supported, with 7-Mode or clustered-mode arrays. And the integration is seamless: Veeam Backup & Replication can read and run restores from primary snapshots, SnapMirror and SnapVault volumes, and also save its backups into SnapVault. A comprehensive integration to leverage all the power of NetApp and Veeam.
