2. How to find the SUBJECT(S): Ask yourself WHO or WHAT is doing the action. Subjects are ALWAYS nouns or pronouns. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song. 3. How to find the PREDICATE(S): Ask yourself WHAT is the SUBJECT doing. The predicate is ALWAYS a verb. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song. 4. How to find the ADJECTIVE(S): Find the noun(s). Ask yourself WHAT KIND, HOW MANY, and WHICH ONE. Adjectives ALWAYS describe NOUNS or PRONOUNS. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song. 5. How to find the ADVERB(S): Find the verb(s), adjective(s), and adverb(s). Ask yourself HOW, WHEN, WHERE, and TO WHAT EXTENT is the verb/adjective/adverb being done. Adverbs usually end in ly. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song. 6. How to find the DIRECT OBJECT(S): Ask yourself WHO or WHAT is RECEIVING the action. The direct object is always a NOUN or PRONOUN. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song. 7. How to find the INDIRECT OBJECT(S): Ask yourself WHO or WHAT is AFFECTED by the action. The indirect object is always a NOUN or PRONOUN. Indirect objects come before direct objects. If there is no direct object, there is no indirect object. The band enthusiastically played me a fast song.
