Specific Objectives: To draw out a Local Action Plan to support the development of the local food and the traditional handcrafts market located on the public space, focusing on “Product Made in Bukovina” brand To raise public awareness about the opportunity represented by local food market in sustainable job creation and local economy’s sustainable development To promote preservation of local handcrafts, cultural traditions and the Bukovina Region identity

External Challenges (1)
Lack of fiscal policies in place to incentivise local agriculture and local food production
Poor competitiveness of the local producers vs. the external competitors
Environment protection policies – revaluation of clean energy resources, quality of living, improvement of living conditions
Lack of initiative for associations, partnerships and collaboration to create food flows, from “pitchfork to fork”
Lack of distribution and supply chains
Ageing population and a new profile for the young client
Population in decrease due to migration toward more developed regions
Migration from villages toward city and creation of deprived neighbourhoods
Rising unemployment rate mainly among youth and low-qualified
Poor citizens’ economic status and low incomes
External Challenges (2)
Siege of the supermarket chains on the local retail / whole sales market
Need to promote healthier lifestyles, culinary habits and adequate education
Need to promote competition for a higher quality food products and supervise quality control for improving the public health
Opportunity to address the social factor – change attitude towards local food markets, create brand preference, involve the local community in socialisation activities and leisure time around the market concept
Need to improve market services and facilitate training and sales classes for traders
Need to introduce new technologies and equipments in the trading process, energy efficiency, environment protection and internet applications for broad promotion
Need to support introduction of concepts like: traditional and bio-products

Unsuitable aspect of the public space and insufficient promotion of the renewable resources, counteract pollution, improved health, wastes management
Infrastructure for clients and sellers: Improper infrastructure, poor standard of inner facilities and equipments for food
stocking and displaying Poor current local markets physical state, lack of investments in the local market
infrastructure and budgetary restrictions Connection to local economy:
Too many intermediaries in the sales and often fiscal evasion triggering disloyal competition
Socialisation market for the local community:
Need to improve accessibility and market segmentation, to find alternative mobility means
Attraction and promotion:
Need to offer tasting experiences within the market and in the vicinity
Need to improve the adjoining area and to revive the local economy based on this
