Apps that entertain and educate at the same time fall into the category of “Edutainment,” which is a word that has been coined in recent years. Children love to play games and be entertained though digital platforms, and it is possible for them to be educated at the same time. As a parent, you can be empowered to choose high quality apps that provide learning opportunities for your child, and then you don’t have to feel guilty about the play time that they spend looking at your phone or tablet.

Even though many people view educational apps as a tool to be used for children, there are also many apps that provide educational tools for adults as well. Many adults are beginning to utilize flashcard apps that help them study, or they can download learning aids to supplement coursework that they are completing in their undergraduate or graduate classrooms.

A company called Higher Learning Technologies understands how effective these tools can be, and they are dedicated to developing products that make it easier to stimulate higher learning. They launched their first product a little more than a year ago, which was a tool to help dental school students study for their board exams. After launching their first app, they raised money through investors to continue developing more apps. Their goal is to develop an additional 24 apps in the near future.
