Power Down WeekPhysical Facebook

In 2010 and 2011 at the Power Down Week kickoff events we created a physical Facebook wall. Participants were encouraged to fill out a profile and have a local artist create a sketch or drawing with their likeness. Several people opted to create their own art as their profile picture. Here is a small snapshot of the profiles that were created at the 2010 kickoff. The wall was kept in a public place throughout the week and people were encouraged to come to the area and leave messages for people in handmade envelopes attached to the profiles. This encouraged people to communicate in a more physical way by mimicking online social networking.
