AgendaAgenda
We’re going to take some common administrative tasks for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7, and accomplish them in PowerShell
Any scripts we write will remain simplistic – think “batch files” vs. “programming.” A later session will focus on more formal scripting and modularization.
Think On This…Think On This…
I’ll be focusing on tasks that demonstrate re-usable patterns – meaning the same techniques can be used to accomplish a lot more
We’ll focus on discovery, self-learning, and reinforcing core skills

If you aren’t willing to read – really read, not just look at – PowerShell’s help files, you will fail.
Harsh, but true. RTFM.

Please note: This session is built primarily around demonstrations, and answering your questions. You won’t see many slides.
If you’re looking for additional written resources, there are lots to choose from (including many free ones) – the closing slide will list some key URLs

Let’s BeginLet’s Begin
We’ll be walking through several tasks that I’ve dreamed up…
…but I’ll also be asking you for input on what, specifically, we should do. Feel free to make suggestions for other tasks I can demo.
We’re focused on Windows. Not SQL Server, not Exchange, not SharePoint
Currently, some server components aren’t “PowerShelled” – DNS, DHCP, etc. So we won’t focus on those either.
Thank You!Thank You!
Please feel free to hit me up with any remaining questions between sessions
Please submit a session evaluation! These are an extremely important part of ensuring that the conference continues to provide you with the education you need!
Resources and URLs on the next slide…
