History of the site : End of 60s:

creation of an industrial business park in Feluy Goal : diversification of the industrial activities in Wallonia. Location : near the Bruxelles –Charleroi canal, E19 highway

and railways

Building of a Chevron Oil Belgium S.A. refinery, operated 10 years, stopped following the 2nd oil crash

Acquisition of the site end of the 80s by SISAS (Italy) : Start of the chemical activities of Pantochim SA 1989. Expansion of the chemical activities in the 90s. 1996 : creation of Neochim SA in partnership with the Italian

company Spiga for the production of Glycerine. End of 90s : financial troubles of the SISAS Group.

2000 years : Progressive adaptation of the site to BASF procedures (working

permit), installations modifications, investments,…

2005: Ceased production chains of plasticizers et derivatives Butanediols (economic reasons).

2006: Transformation of an esterification unit for the production of biodiesel by Neochim SA, Belgian branch of SPIGA company (Italy)

2007: Restart of an additional reactor and increase of the production of anhydrous maleic.

October 2009 :

BASF, Feluy siteoffers ...

Logistics access : highway, railway and fluvial access, as well as loading / unloading docks

Infrastructures and networks : roads and pipeways connecting the different areas for the products and the “utilities”.

Important connection with national networks : Azote, Hydrogene, Oxygene, Natural Gas, HT Electricity.

Production of ”utilities”, sewage treatment plant, cooling tower

Large utilitarian network built through the site : fumes, condensate, compressed air, demineralized water, drinking water, well water, decarbonated water, cooling water, electrical substation,…

Control room.

Available parks with storage tanks

Diverse buildings (lab, storehouse, cafetaria, administrative buildings, maintenance building,…).

Vacant or available areas (partially set up).

Infrastructure and networks.

Infrastructure and networks : Road connecting the different areas Different access points to the site Electric distribution network with a substation Pipeway covering the access to practically the whole site and

having a great deal of available piplines for chemical activities Possibility to re-use partially existing connections (unit in the

process of desmantling)

Production of ”utilities”.

Production of available utilities: Demineralized water (120 m3/h) Decarbonated water (250 m3/h) Depressurized water (boiler supply) (220 m3/h – 70 bars) Fumes and condensates salvage Compressed air (5500 Nm3/h) Cooling water (12000 m3/h) Well water (150 m3/h) …

N.B.: necessity to reinvest in the production of steam and the storage of condensates

Page 18: Presentation basf feluy june 2010 eng

Waste water treatment.

Water treatment: Underground sewage network. Aerial sewage network (inox) et neutralization of acid waters. Possibility of oxygen injections Mud filtering Drying and storage of the muds …

N.B.: necessity to adapt the treatment of waste water to upstream processes and to reinvest in certain equipments according to the future configuration of the site.
