DESCRIPTION
Official Update, Advice, & Arrival Time SMS -is a mobile web and SMS-based platform providing real-time information about goods and services delivery to individuals and communities in disaster-affected regions. It is an official Updates and Advice Platform that families and friends of people affected by disaster can sign up for or on behalf of those in need, who may or may not currently have access to a cell phone. If you have access and you know a loved one's cell phone # and last known location, you can sign them up to receive official updates and advice. Purpose: To empower individuals and their communities to make the best decisions for themselves. If you are an organization you can sign up to send official updates, advice and arrival times to those in need in your areas. Made in New York during NextDayBetter Hackathon in aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), November 2013.

In information dark zone people on the ground may have limited access to cell phones and even more
limited access to news and official information. People need what information they can get in order to make
the best informed decisions.
Receiving a simple text of expected arrival time of goods to a familiar location, updates or advice could
vitally improve this information network.
