Samsung Apps (i.e. iTunes, Google Play Store) ran on Oracle Coherence prior to their

adoption of ALTIBASE HDB™. Oracle Coherence did not provide a stable

authentication service on the Amazon EC2 AWS Cloud platform for Samsung’s growing

Galaxy smartphone series as well as its other marquis products. The Oracle Coherence

based backend failed, causing Samsung’s global authentication service to stop for

several hours.

Furthering the problem, Samsung could not recover critical data after the Oracle

Coherence crash because of irretrievable data loss.

Samsung chose ALTIBASE HDB™ to provide a high performance, reliable and robust

global authentication service for its fast-growing number of App users. In addition to

Samsung’s high performance (Hot Data) needs, it needed a solution for storing large

historical data (Cold Data).
