Implementation approach

Start small with 1 data domain for few departments

Have a fixed integral team with technical and functional domain experts

Broad SAP knowledge at solution architecture level is paramount

Have SAP Basis involved early to ensure a smooth technical configuration

A quick multi domain ramp-up is possible with a cascaded planning

Important notes when implementing MDG

Business wise

MDG solution can only be effective if the business has aligned on data, process and governance model

Think about phased roll-out strategy: will MDG govern data management for all at once?

Validate the MDG configurations with key users as soon as possible

Technical wise

Think good about initial architecture to be ready for future growth of your organization

Clarify what MDG should re-use from existing ERP setups and how this is best done.
