• Small Cell Forum published APIs that define how to create and write new mobile applications based on small cell technologies.
• Also worked with Broadband Forum who published management specs in TR-196 to enable operator management of small-cell APIs
Small Cell Apps: So Far…
Small Cell Forum has a cooperation agreement with the Open Mobile Alliance(OMA), an international specifications setting body, to develop open API standards for small cells on a global scale
OMA and Small Cell Forum Themes

Emulator Implementation
• The Reference Implementation exposes the OneAPI V2 services, which include: • Location, SMS, MMS, Payment, Data Connection Profile, Voice
Call Control and Device Capabilities, as sandboxes
• Services exposed as a set of REST-based APIs
• Services are provided as sandboxes (i.e. they are not connected to any live operator)
• Developers can try out the APIs from their applications in a controlled test environment, where they can provision their own test data in their own sandbox
Reference API Implementation
• North Bound API for small cell applicaGons (as a war/jar library) • UGlity API for sandbox tesGng (for simulaGng events in small cell network)
RESTful services for small cell applicaGons
Zonal Presence service : provides presence informaGon of a mobile user relaGve to a small cell zone
LocaGon Streaming service : enables tracking movement of a mobile user relaGve to a reference locaGon within a zone
Contents of SC Open Source API
• API Library Implementation • Sample Java Application • VM Package
• API Library Documentation (HTML) • Requirements Document • High Level Design Document
• Python based Test Framework
Summary:
• Based on consumer research: • Consumers WANT Small Cell Services AND • They are willing to pay
• New Revenue Opportunity for Mobile Operators
• Small Cell Forum have published Open API’s • Additional API work continues
