Social networking is a system that allows you to connect with many people all over the world.

It’s a chance for you express to people who you really are.

Allows you to express your interests, likes and dislikes.

Facebook

A site where users can add friends and update their personal profiles to notify friends, family, and co-workers about themselves

Features on the site include:– Wall- friends can sign and view the walls of other users– Messaging- where personal messages are sent between two or more

parties – Photos- pics are posted by users for others to see and even comment on– “pokes”- users can use this feature to virtually touch other friends– Status updates- users can use this feature to update what he or she is

doing at all times– Applications- i.e. honesty box, gifts, etc.

Through News Feeds users can see the different updates

Twitter

As if text messaging wasn’t enough.

Twitter allows you to update status to keep your fellow followers updated on your thoughts.

Allows you connect with a variety of different people and companies.

Ever wonder what you favorite celebrity was doing?

– Twitter allows you to follow the most rich and famous.

– Allows you to keep involved in the most trendy topics and even updates you the coolest people to follow.

YouTube!

Are you into making cool videos? Are you always trying to find cool ways to

express you corky personality? Do you enjoy displaying your talents and

views on camera…..then if you are– YOUTUBE is just for you.

YouTube allows you post your own video’s to millions of people all over the world.

The internet is quickly growing and YouTube is quickly growing with it.

Get enough hits and views on YouTube and your viral video can end up all over the internet.

Skype

Ever been in another state and needed to have an emergency conference back at home with the rest of the office?

….then Skype is just for you. Simple as setting up your

webcam and connecting to the internet.

Skype allows you to make voice calls over the internet. From all over the world.

Skype is used by some of the best in entrainment world.

Oprah Winfrey it to conference in people from their private home to her studio.

Linkedin

The professional Facebook. Connecting with co-worker, bosses, and future

employers and/or employees. Linkedin allows you to upload resume and receive

recommendations and still socialize at the same time.

Great way for employers to find what their looking for.

Also great, easy, fast way to communicate without the hassle of emailing back and forth and without all the unnecessary paperwork.

Google

Google is one of the five most popular websites in the world.

Google allows you to search anything from companies to movies to certain photos to people.

Google will search based off of your “keywords” and find the most used websites for your search.

Adwords

If you have a company and you want you company to company to come up in the top choices of the search when searched for then you need to use “Adwords”.

How does it work?– Say your company is

“Bed, Bath and Beyond”– In your descriptions you

might use words such as “ Bed, bath, beyond, home goods, bed bath decor and etc”

Blogs

A website where individuals can express his or her feelings, thoughts, and ideas publicly via video, photo, or through word expressions

Usually categorized and/or themed– i.e.: celebrity gossip blog or political policies blogs

Viewed by a wide ranged audience to find out what other individuals think

Allows for spectators to comment either for or against the topic being discussed

Pros ands Cons to Social Networking/Media

Pros – A greater chance to

brand yourself.– The coverage that the

internet can reach.– Being able to find long

lost friends and/or relatives.

– Being able to assess news faster.

Cons– The constant new

devolvement of cites with new technology.

– Too much exposure Lack of privacy

– Not user friendly. Navigating through

some cites can be more challenging then others

What does all of this mean?

Social networking cites is a chance for people who want a different way to brand their name and/or company to do so.

Branding yourself hasn’t become a necessity but it is quickly approaching.

Companies are starting to use the internet (Google) as a way to research their newly interested employees and if done correctly it can only mean great things.

Conclusion

There may be some pros and cons to social networking but in the end it all pays off.

Learning to brand yourself now will help you out in the long run.

There are no age restrictions on social networking. It’s for everyone.

Most of all have fun with it.
