Step 1: Isolate the issue.

- Is the problem with sending, receiving or both?- Can you send/receive using webmail?- Can you send/receive with other accounts on different domains using the same email application?- Can you send/receive with other accounts on same domain using the same email application?- Does it work if you set up the account on a different computer?

Step 2: Get the correct email settings

- Do you have an email from your web hosting company with the settings?

- Do you have the logins to your control panel, so that you can access these settings yourself?

If not, contact your web hosting company for this information.

Step 2: Get the correct email settings

If we are hosting your website:- Hosting Control Panel: http://cp.e-business.ie- Get your username and password from your intro email or contact us to get them.- After logging in, go to:Hosting -> E-mail -> E-mail Addresses (example follows)

- Select an e-mail address to see username and password for that specific account (example follows)

Step 3: Ensure that you are using the correct email settings

Where to check depends on the e-mail application that you use:- Example in Outlook follows- If you use a different application:*Check the Help/Support for the application.*Do a search on Google, etc.- Important! If you are using our servers, you must go to “More Settings” and tick “My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication” - New! Also under “More Settings” on the “Advanced” tab change the default Outgoing Server Port Number to 587.

Step 4: Delete Account & Set-up Fresh

If the accounts are correct in the first place, or if you have corrected incorrect settings and you are still having an issue:- delete the account- close the email application- after a few moments, restart the application- set up the account again

If the issue persists, restart your computer before setting up the account again.

Step 5: If the issue still persists…

- If the problem is with outgoing e-mails, try temporarily using the Outgoing (SMTP) Server provided your Internet Service Provider.* You can get this information from your ISP’s website or customer service department.

You may need to change the setting for Outgoing Server Authentication, so check with the ISP if this should be ticked or not, and if there are any other settings to change.

Step 6: Check other possible issues Messages leaving Outbox, but message is not received:- Did you get a ‘bounce message’? This message will give you a clue about the issue, which is often down to a typo in the email address or that the recipient’s mailbox is full (often the case with webmail users)- Did the message get caught in the recipient’s spamfilter? Make sure that your subject line (never leave it empty) and message

content aren’t spam-like. - Are you sure there’s no other reason? The server may have been blacklisted as a suspected spammer. We can take action to fix this as soon as possible, so e-mail us all the details.

Step 6: Check other possible issues Is your anti-virus application interfering with your e-mail?- Disable outgoing e-mail filtering.

- Disable all e-mail filtering temporarily to see if this is an issue.

If this is the problem, then delete and set up the account fresh as noted earlier. The anti-virus application may have corrupted your email account settings.

If this problem is down to the anti-virus and effects your e-mail settings regularly, you want to consider using a different anti-virus application!

Step 6: Check other possible issues Is there another application that may be interfering with your e-mail application?- Using any plugins to integrate your contacts with another application (CRM, Social Media tools, etc.)? Many plugins are ‘buggy’ and not properly tested on all applications, so you may need to disable the plugin for the email to work properly.

- Integration with Word, Excel, etc may not be working properly.- Does your e-mail application need an upgrade or re-installation?

Step 6: Check other possible issues

Are you using a mobile internet connection?- Check with your mobile internet provider if you need any different settings. They may required that you use their outgoing server or that you use a specific port to connect for e-mail.

This may come up if you are travelling and using a different mobile company for the internet.

You’ve tried EVERYTHING and your email is still not working?!

E-mail (if you have a separate account that’s working) [email protected], noting:- specific issue you are experiencing- date/time that the problem started- if the problem is consistent or sporadic- any error messages you have gotten- steps you have already tried to fix the problem

Please be patient while we check into your problem We understand that it is really frustrating to be without your email, but please keep in mind that issues with email problems can be a challenge.

There are so many various e-mail account, server, application and computer settings and so there may not be one simple solution to your situation.
