Editorial Control explainedBusiness control through Query Rules
1. User searches or navigates
2. Initial search results
3. Business logic in query rules
4. UX from transformed search results
Concept
Overview
• Define user properties (MMS)• Define user segments (Query Rules)• Set user properties for the current user
(custom; gatherer)• Pass user properties to search queries
(extended CSWP)
Content targeting with user segments
• Located on Catalog Item Page Layout
• Reads the value of the Audiences Managed Property for the current Catalog Item
• Stores the Audiences of last 3 visited Catalog Items in session
Gatherer
• Reads user properties from session and passes them to the search query
Extended CSWP
• Create a term set• Create a custom Web Part for user segmentation• Add query rules to carry out specific actions that
depend on the user segment• Add a custom Web Part to the SharePoint page and
configure it to show the query rule
