For times 12:31 – 1:30 use “Es La”

For any other time use “Son Las”

Adding/Subtracting Minutes

To subtract minutes in Spanish:-Round up to the next hour-Insert “Menos” (which means Minus)-Put the number of minutes until the next hourOnly use subtraction if the minutes are 31 – 59.

To add minutes in Spanish:-Put the hour-Insert a “Y”-Put the minutesOnly use addition if the minutes are 0 – 30.

The Reason for “Es la”

The number 1 is the only singular number in

Spanish.

“Es” is the singular form of Ser, so it is used

when 1 is the hour digit.

The only time 1 will be in the hour digit is

between 12:31 and 1:30, which is why “Es

La” is used for these times.
