THERE ARE 2 EQUATIONS, SOLVE THEM TO MAKE EQUATION OF Y ON X

• 5A+10B=40

• 10A+25B = 95

• Solving these we get : 5b = 15 or b = 3

• 5A = 10 or A = 2.

• Y =A+BX

• Thus we have Y = 2+ 3x answer.


WHICH OF THESE IS REGRESSION EQUATION OF Y

ON X?

• 3X+Y =13

• 2X+5Y=20

• Solving the first equation we get:

• Y = 13-3X

• Solving second equation we get:

• Y = 4 – 2/5X

• (both are regression equations).


If regression lines are Y=-2x+3 and 8x =-Y +3, what is correlation of X

and Y? • B = covariance/ variance X = -2

• Covariance / variance Y = -1/8

• Correlation = covariance / std dev. Of X * std. dev. Of Y

• Multiplying the above two we get:

• -2*-1/8 = ¼ let us take square root of this we get : ½ or .5 answer.


The coefficient of concurrent deviation for p pairs of observations

was found to be 1/sqrt(3) if the number of concurrent deviations was found to be 6, the value of P

is? • =+/- sqrt(+/- (2c-m)/m)• sqrt{(12 – m)/m }= 1/sqrt(3) ( now square these)• = (12 – m)/m = 1/3 • 36 – 3m = m OR 4 m = 36 OR M= 9• No. of pairs = 10 answer.


If regression equation of Y on X, coefficient of correlation between X and Y and variance of Y are -3/4, -sqrt(3/2) and 4 respectively. What

is variance of X?

• Covariance / stddev. Of X*Y = sqrt 3/2

• Cov^2 / VarX *Var Y = 3/2

• Cov / VarX = -3/4 (using 2nd value in 1st)

• Cov /4 = 3/2 *- 4/3 = -2 or Cov = -8

• Var X =-8 *4/-3 = 32/3 ans.

• Let us assume that the amount is X

• =AMOUNT * RATE *TIME / (100+ (R*T)

• X *6*.833 / (100 +(6*.833) = 26.25

• 5X = 26.25 *105

• X =26.25*21 =551.25 ANSWER.


A man purchased a cow for Rs. 300 and sold it the same day for

Rs. 360, allowing the buyer a credit of 9 years. If the rate of interest be 7 per annum, then the man has a

gain of:• True discount =AMOUNT * RATE *TIME / (100+ (R*T)

• =360 * 63 / 163 = 139.14

• He is having loss of 80 Rupees as the present value of 360 is only 220. ans.


The average age of a husband and wife was 23 years when they were married 5 years ago. The average age of the husband, the wife and a

child who was born during the interval, is 20 years now. How old

is the child.

• 23*2 = 46 add 5+5 years = 56.

• However, 20*3 = 60 that means the child is 4 years old. Ans.


Out of three given numbers, the first one is twice the second and

three times the third. If the average of these numbers is 88, then the

difference between first and third is• Let us assume that the third number is 2x

• First is 6x and 2nd is 3x. The average of these is 11/3x

• 11/3x = 88 so X = 24. The difference between the first and third is 4x or 96. ans.


A can hit a target 3 times in 5 trials or shots. B can hit 2 times in

5 trials and C can hit the target 3 times in 4 trials. They fire (i.e.,

shoot simultaneously). What is the chance that exactly 2 shots hit the

target?
