CORPUS LINGUISTICS
• CORPUS LINGUISTICS is the study of language as expressed in samples ( corpora) or “real world” text.
• The word “corpus” is derived from the Latin word meaning “body”.
• It may be used to refer to any verbal or printed form.
• Corpora are now largely derived by an automated process compared to those days whereby it was done by hand.
