– Get the audience involved

–Jotting Impromptu ideas – Use ink to emphasize specific points

– Seamless

– Allowing handwritten presentations to be written on a large screen

– Clever use of color codes– Ease of uploading annotated slides

–Work through problems effectively

Learning Objectives• Understand what an amplifier does• Understand where the power comes from,

and where the currents flow• Understand a simple model of the internal

behaviour of the op-amp• Understand how to use this model to

calculate the gain of a circuit with source and load resistances (impedances).

Laser pointer versus underlining - Use ink to emphasize specific points

What about other tools like the visualizer?

• White Board – poor visibility in a big class room

• Visualizer – delay, distraction

Human Computer Interaction - High fidelity versus Low fidelity

• Low Fidelity – Presenting a model with paper and crayon

• High Fidelity – Presenting a model on the computer

Outside the lecture theater

• Example - easier to annotate for example test solutions for students

• Mid Semester Test Solution s2 2010.pdf

What more?

• Record your annotations together with voice ENG1030 AJL Op-amps Introduction OA1-1.mov

• Students can also write on tablets in an interactive manner

• With a wireless connection to the projector, one can move around the lecture theater or classroom

• Character recognition

The flip side ….

• cost of Tablet PCs and associated infrastructure

• time spent acquiring new skills (hardly any)

• The occasional technical glitch

• lecturers have to think on their feet more than with PowerPoint

Thank you for your attention …

• “The new technology is more than just a tool — it takes us further into the interactivity we would all like to enjoy.” – Professor Adam Shoemaker, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Monash University
