Moving in time with volatile markets.Few industries are as prone to market volatility as oil and gas and even though demand for energy resources keeps on growing, their prices can fluctuate wildly. In times of plenty, oil and gas firms invest in exploration. But, when the price dips, players must hunker down and focus on maximising revenue at lowest cost.

Fully-redundant BT Cloud Compute data centres in Bogota offer 100 per cent availability with local delivery. The advantages of proximity to AxURE business operations include low latency, regional regulatory compliance and local currency pricing. Meanwhile dedicated servers in a BT Compute Telehousing data centre make it easy to separately run oil and gas-specific business apps.

MICU®, an AxURE service that keeps customers connected anywhere.AxURE has developed semi-permanent Mobile Integrated Communications Unit (MICU) stations for use in exploration fields. These use a 100 per cent Cisco infrastructure with state-of-the-art technology and BT Connect – Satellite Access links that optimise response times and service quality.

The MICU has built-in telematics support for a wide variety of terrestrial communications systems, with an availability of 99.96 per cent. It also provides support for local wireless LANs offering service for up to 100 simultaneous on-site users per location in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Where customers connect to AxURE’s MICU services, BT IP Connect links provide access to the BT Cloud Compute environment, guaranteeing high availability and good network performance.

Advantages of an integrated end-to-end architecture. A key consideration for AxURE was that the solution should be an integrated end-to-end architecture from a single provider with a direct service relationship across all elements. “Having a single supplier was crucial in meeting our commitments to our clients,” says Juana Martínez. “It means SLAs are always the responsibility of a single provider.”

BT professional services consultants provide support for the implementation and continuity of services. They also deliver ongoing training to guarantee trouble-free operation for AxURE clients and make sure configurations are error-free. With on-demand services offered to its customers, AxURE has a BT professional services person permanently allocated to its team. BT consultants also offer BT Cloud Compute service management as well as delivery and activation support.

Savings now with the flexibility for future growth. BT Cloud Compute and BT Connect – Satellite Access are provided to AxURE on a pay-as-you-go basis. The BT IP Connect Global cloud is linked to all BT Compute data centres, making the platform available to existing BT network customers. As an existing BT IP Connect Global VPN customer AxURE thus incurs no connectivity charge for its cloud-based solution.
