Technology is the making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function. Recent technological developments, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. However, not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes; the development of weapons of ever-increasing destructive power has progressed throughout history. As nuclear weapons.

HTC launches new HTC One line of smartphones

HTC has launched a new flagship Android smartphone, the HTC One X, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The majority of mobile giants had their announcements before the actual start of the MWC -- including Samsung, LG and Sony. The device also brings a vastly improved camera experience, called Image Sense. The camera takes photos quickly -- in 0.7 seconds. It has 8 megapixels and uses an f/2.0 lens, which captures more light than any other HTC smartphone camera. It also takes great photos in unfavorable light conditions, thanks to the device's HDR algorithm. The company also launched two other HTC One devices with slightly lower specs -- the HTC One S and the HTC One V. All three devices should be hitting the market in the next two months, likely in April.

The history of technology is the history of the invention of tools and techniques, and is similar in many ways to the history of humanity. Background knowledge has enabled people to create new things, and conversely, many scientific endeavors have become possible through technologies which assist humans to travel to places we could not otherwise go, and probe the nature of the universe in more detail than our natural senses allow.

20th centuryLanding on the Moon20th century technology developed rapidly. Due to the scientific gains directly tied to military research and development, technologies including electronic computing might have developed as rapidly as they did in part due to war. Radio, radar, and early sound recording were key technologies which paved the way for the telephone, fax machine, and magnetic storage of data

In the early 21st century, the main technology being developed is electronics. Broadband Internet access became commonplace in developed countries, as did connecting home computers with music libraries and mobile phones. Biotechnology is a relatively new field that holds yet unknown possibilities. Spacecraft designs are also being developed, like the Orion. The James Webb Space Telescope will try to identify early galaxies as well as the exact location of the Solar System within our galaxy, using the infrared spectrum. The finished International Space Station will provide an intermediate platform for space missions and zero gravity experiments. Despite challenges and criticism, NASA and ESA plan a manned mission to Mars in the 2030s.
