What’s wrong with the current VDI?
VDI has been widely deployed for its simplified management, lower TCO
and security… but at what cost?
Limited No user installed software
Ports blocked
Isolated
Connection dependant No offline mode
Latency spoils user experience
Not best for multimedia
Stateless Session is not maintained
No settings/personalisation saved
One-size-fits-all with only standard apps
Desktop replacement Replaces user’s desktop

The network is just a means… is the LAN really needed?
The OS is just middleware… why bother managing it?
Apps are only tools… why limit which to use?
What really matters is information!

Four key messages
VDI is a start but is not enough!

Users will always find a way… enable securely instead of blocking.
