The media is a way

of using

technology as a

means of mass

communication.

The media includes technology

such as

radio, television, film, music, intern

et and also newspapers and

magazines.

The media has been used for a long time as

a way for people to communicate. It

supplies news from around the world and

has made us aware of countless problems

and situations world wide. For

example, without the media we wouldn’t

know about the protests in countries such as, Libya and Egypt.

In my

opinion, without the

media coverage of

those protests the

fighting in those

countries would not

have ended as

quickly as it had.

For Example.......

‘Facebook’ and ‘Tumblr’ are the

two main sites that are increasingly

being used for social networking and blogging.

Some of the social networks that I use are Facebook and

Instagram. I use Facebook as a way to communicate with

others and instagram just for fun. Instagram is a mobile app

where you post pictures of anything to gain followers and get

likes. Instagram is also a lot less private than facebook .

Skype can also be used to communicate with others as it

allows us to connect with people all around the world

using the internet. Skype is really good because it is for free

and can be used on the go when download as an app on

mobiles.

Today mostly everyone in the world uses social networking

sites, some people use them to share their lives with family and

friends and others just to keep in contact.

I think that these sites are used more regularly because now we are

able to update our status and post on our blogs through the use of

mobiles, computers and tablets. As a result of this we are able to

keep in contact where ever we go.

This also means that we are coming into contact with the social

media more often , and because of this we are constantly being

shown advertisements.

I think that the increase in the use of social media and the

developments in new technologies has allowed smaller businesses

to expand and grow. Now they are able to advertise not only in

their communities but also in wider areas. They are also able to

receive reviews from real people, which will in turn help them grow

even more.

What I find interesting about the media is its ability to

connect everyone and anyone, the developments in the

media and how its helped to encourage change in

society. The media affects us as a society because no

matter where we go we are always surrounded by the

media and are always absorbing its messages. The media is very influential because of this, in some cases it is really

good but can also be bad.
