TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

In the 21st century the technology has been part of all people around the world, technology is a useful tool to develop tasks and homework. It is difficult to know how much the technology can be useful because there are students use this to learn and in the other hand, it could be a distraction into classrooms.

Lantis, Jeffrey S. (2000) says that, “our ability to make use of the technology to support student-to-student collaboration and interaction has become more sophisticated over the years” (p. 178)

First: Why Technology in the Classroom is a good tool.

Data and analytic reporting: Apps and platforms offer teachers ways to combine all the information they might need to know about a student, attendance history, performance on quizzes.

Assistive tech for special needs: technology allows students to communicate and be involved with their teachers and classmates.

Second: Why Technology in the Classroom isn’t always a good tool.

Distracting: This could be the number one problem that students do not pay attention to the lesson.

CONCLUSION

At the end, public and private schools in Guatemala, the technology has come to help teachers that need specific information on each topic. Of course, students must be able to use it well in EFL classroom where the interaction by the apps or platforms can be easier than be in classroom in Guatemala. Of course, there is not right or wrong side of the technology because it could be our friend, if we can use it well.
