USING SHAREPOINT WIKIS IN AX FOR
COLLABORATIVE KNOWLEDGE
Dynamics AX | SharePoint
A Wiki is a great way to store all of the unstructured knowledge and data that is lurking within the organization, because it allows everyone to contribute to the knowledgebase with just a couple of mouse clicks.
In this worked example we will show how easy it is to create a Wiki for product information, and then integrate it into Dynamics AX to help your users with information sharing.

Create A Wiki Site
The first step is to create a Wiki. To do this you just need to create a new Site Collection inside of SharePoint Central Administration.

Build Your Wiki
Content
Now we can start building our Wiki content. All you need to do is click on the “Edit” link.
For this example we will create a Product knowledge base. To create a top level link for the products, we just create a link like this:
[[Products]].

Build Your Wiki
Content
When we click on the link, since there is not a page already created, the Wiki will ask you if you want to create one.

Content
Then we will create a product index page with all of the products that we want to add information on.

Build Your Wiki
Content
We just need to tell SharePoint where we want to store the image.

Everything You
Need To Know
About Ahi
Now we have a page that everyone would access to find out about Ahi.

Change Indexing
We want to link these pages to Dynamics AX, and using the name is not the most reliable way to cross reference. So we will change the links just a little for the products and use the following format:
[[PRODUCT14001|Ahi Tuna]]
This will index the page with PRODUCT14001, but display Ahi Tuna as the link.

Change Indexing
Unfortunately this breaks the reference link that we just created.

Change Indexing
To fix that, we just need to find the page that we created…

Add Wiki As Tab
The final step is to add a tab to the Products form that includes a web browser.
