Verbs• Verbs are words that represent action or a state of being.
• Action verbs: represent something one can do.• Physical actions: Swim, jump, run, sneeze• Mental actions: dream, hope, wish, think
• Linking verbs: are verbs demonstrating relationship to subject.• To be verbs, 5 senses verbs.

Transitive vs. Intransitive Verbs• Transitive verbs are action verbs that require a direct
object.• The direct object answers what or whom.• A direct object is a noun that refers back to the verb.
• The boy swung the bat.• She picked up the paper.
Intransitive verbs- don't require a direct object• The boy swung wildly.• My dad goes to work.
