• Costi continui per la sostituzione/smaltimento causa obsolescenza Hardware/Software;

• L’adeguamento tramite personale qualificato agli standard aziendali per il provisioningdei sistemi sull’intera area geografica, la movimentazione del personale tecnico verso levarie sedi;

• Tempi lunghi per la predisposizione di nuovi laboratori alle attività formative, l’utilizzo diaule informatiche per corsi diversi durante la giornata;

Desktop & Server virtualization VMWareView 5.0 e vSphere 5.0

WAN-optimized Data Replication:Falconstor Microscan

• Applications and file systems write far more data to disk than

actual changes

• FalconStor CDP scans the changes at a 512 byte level and

replicates only the changed data

– Avoids constant re-sending of duplicate data

512 byte

= empty disk sector

= data written by application or file system

= sector with actual data change

A typical 8k write of data. Many systems send all 8k or more.

FalconStor CDP sends only the truly

changed sectors.

Integration with Site Recovery Manager

• FalconStor Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) integrates FalconStor replication with Site Recovery Manager

• NSS provides replication engine

• Virtual disk assignments are automatically coordinated with associated virtual machines with the help of SRA

• Disaster recovery scenarios can be tested at any time

– A TimeView snapshot image is created and mounted to a virtual machine being tested

– The virtual machine is started

– Recovery is validated and TimeView image removed

Addressing Common Challenges

Our budget was cut this year, but we need a good disaster recovery plan. What can we do?

How do I protect physical machines? Do I have to recover to the identical

physical machine at the disaster recovery site? Can I use a VM as the

disaster recovery standby machine?

I have a handful of business-critical applications that need to recover in

minutes, not hours. Is there a rapid recovery solution available for select

systems and applications?

Usage RightsCopyright © 2013 FalconStor Software · All Rights Reserved

Storage virtualization & DR solutions

47

Addressing Common Challenges

I can’t implement VMware SRM because of various hardware/environmental reasons. We need complete recovery coverage

Most solutions I have looked at only guarantee crash-consistent data.

Can I make sure that after failover my tier-one database will be mounted cleanly without wasting time repairing inconsistencies?

During a site outage, I may want to temporarily move my protected workloads, physical machines, and VMs to the disaster recovery site.

Can this process be automated? How can we automate the entire

failback process back to the production site?

48

What is RecoverTrac?

A disaster recovery tool that maps servers, applications, networking storage, and failover procedures from source sites to recovery sites,

automating the logistics involved in resuming business operations at the

recovery site.

Extends the functionality of FalconStor CDP/NSS solutions and operates

in all environments, independent of server, network, application, or

storage vendor

 Allows creation of recovery jobs

Single server or multiple servers (groups)

Can use dependencies: order of start, delays, network re-mapping

Usage RightsCopyright © 2013 FalconStor Software · All Rights Reserved

Storage virtualization & DR solutions

49

Why Use RecoverTrac?

 Provides business continuity lifecycle management

Allows for planning and validation of the disaster recovery strategy by scheduling recovery jobs periodically

Choose from a multitude of recovery methods

Performs local and remote site recovery
