Extract the downloaded zip file. And start VMukti server installation by double clicking on setup .exe file

This installation would ask you to install .NET Framework 3.5, if your system does not have .NET framework installed.

Accept the terms and condition. Following three images demonstrate downloading and installation progress of .NET Framework.

After successful installation of .NET Framework start installing VMukti server setup again by double clicking on setup .exe. Now if your pc does not have SQL Server 2005 installed, the installation would ask you to install SQL Server 2005.

SQL Server 2005 installation steps (STEP 5 to STEP 24):-

Click on “Download” (234 MB) for downloading SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP2.

Save the setup file SQLEXPR32.EXE of sql server 2005.

STEP – 8 Download progress of SQL server setup file


STEP – 9 Install SQL server by double clicking on downloaded SQLEXPR32.EXE.

Select Run to install the SQL server 2005.


STEP – 10 SQL server installation is in progress


STEP – 11 Accept terms and conditions and click next to proceed


STEP – 12 Click “Install” to proceed next

STEP – 16 Provide your computer name and your company name (this step is not

much crucial


STEP – 17 Click “Next” to proceed next


STEP – 18 Select “Mixed Mode”


STEP – 19 Provide password in specified fields. This password will be used for login

authentication when you try to login to your system’s SQL server, that is you will have to provide this password as SQL Server authentication while login into Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Click “Next” to proceed.


STEP – 20 Click next to proceed


STEP – 21 Leave these options as it is and click next to move for next step


STEP – 22 Click “Install” to proceed

STEP – 24 Click “Finish” to finish the SQL server 2005 installation


STEP – 25 Configure SQL Server 2005 for making it useful to VMukti Go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration

Tools > SQL Server Surface Area Configuration


STEP – 26 The following window would open, Click to “Server Surface Area

Configuration for Services and Connections”.


STEP – 27 The following window would open.

STEP – 29 Click on “Database Engine” > “Remote Connections” and select “Using

both TCP/IP and named pipes”.


STEP – 30 Go to “SQL Server Browser” > Services


STEP – 31 Click on “Stop” to stop the browser service.


STEP – 32 Now go to “Database Engine”, click on “Services”.


STEP – 33 Click on “Stop” to stop the database service.


STEP – 34 Click “Start” to start the database service.


STEP – 35 Now click on “Apply” to apply the new configurations then click “OK” to

finish the configuration settings.


STEP – 36 After finishing the new configuration settings, you will be prompted

following window. Close the following window.


STEP – 37 The following 2 steps is required for confirming successful installation and

configuration of SQL Server 2005, go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > SQL Server Management Studio Express.


STEP – 38 You will get the following window, this window shows that the SQL server

management studio is trying to connect to a SQL server. For Server type field: Select “Database Engine” For Server name field: Write the SQL server IP (SQL server IP is IP of the

PC where the SQL server is installed/running which you trying to connect like 192.168.191.2) + “\” + SQLEXPRESS

For example “192.168.191.2\SQLEXPRESS”. The Server name may be only IP address of the SQL server (Like “192.168.191.2” in case of enterprise version of SQL Server 2005), but this user guide directed to install Express version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005.


STEP – 38 For Authentication field: Select SQL Server Authentication For Login field: Write “sa” as per SQL server installation steps followed

previously. For Password field: Write the password you entered in the Mixed Mode

step while installing the SQL Server. Following slide shows the SQL window , SQL gets configured

STEP – 39 Now again double click on VMukti server setup .exe file. Now if your

system does not have IIS server installed, it would ask you to install IIS server 4.0 or higher

IIS installation steps (STEP 40 to 46):-


STEP – 40 On clicking “OK” in previous step, the following image arrives. Click on

close. Follow next steps for IIS installation.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs

STEP – 42 Click on “Add/Remove Windows Components” placed in left side of “Add

or Remove Programs” window


STEP – 43 Select “Application Server” then click next to proceed.


STEP – 44 Insert disc of Microsoft Windows Operating System of your PC in CD

driver, press “OK” to proceed.


STEP – 45 IIS installation progress


STEP – 46 Finish to complete the IIS installation.


STEP – 47 Start VMukti sever installation again by double clicking on VMukti Server

setup .exe file. Click next to proceed.


STEP – 48 Provide correct SQL Server’s credentials. For first/top field (SQL InstanceName): Write Server name, which is used

while connecting to SQL server trough Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login into that; use that Server name in first/top field, as for example “192.168.191.2\SQLExpress”, 192.168.191.2 is the IP address of the SQL Server. The Instance name may be only IP address of the SQL server (Like “192.168.191.2” in case of enterprise version of SQL Server 2005), but this user guide directed to install Express version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. IP address of SLQ server is the IP of the system where SQL server is installed/running.


STEP – 48 For middle field (SQL Authentication User Name): Write the user name

“sa”, which is used while connecting to SQL server trough Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login into that; use that User Name in middle field.

For last/bottom field (SQL Authentication Password): This is the corresponding password to the user name discussed in above section.

Click “Next” to proceed.


STEP – 49 In the following screen For SMTP server Name field: Write “smtp.gmail.com” For SMTP Port Number field: Write “587” For SMTP UserName field: Write an existing gmail account For SMTP password field: Write correct password of the gmail account

provided in the above field. Then click “Next” to proceed.


STEP – 50 Click to “Next” to proceed.


STEP – 51 Installation progress


STEP – 52 Click “Close” to finish the VMukti Server installation.


STEP – 53 For Configure IIS, go to Start > Administrative Tools > Internet

Information Services (IIS) Manager.


STEP – 54 Your will get window of IIS Manager like following image: click on + sign

given in front of ADIANCE1 (local computer name) and navigate till “Default Web Site”. And follow to next steps.


STEP – 55 You would get the following screen


STEP – 56 Right click on “Default Web Site”. Select properties


STEP – 57 Go to “Web Site” section in the following screen. Select “(All Unassigned)” option from IP address Make sure “80” is written in TCP port field Write “443” in SSL port field. Now follow next steps.


STEP – 58 In the same screen go to “Home Directory” section. Configure your IIS

window for this step same as highlighted in the following screen.


STEP – 59 Select latest version supported by this IIS, for this case select 2.0.50727.


STEP – 60 After clicking on “Apply”, following window would open. Select “VMukti”

then click “OK”.


STEP – 61 Now click “OK” and proceed to next step.

STEP – 62 Right click on VMukti and click on properties. Open Virtual Directory

tab. Make sure all checks and drop down content are same as highlighted in the following image

.


STEP – 63 Select latest version available in ASP.NET version as for example

2.0.50727 then on “Apply”. Follow next step..


STEP – 64 Click “OK” to finish the IIS configuration. After finishing it, close the

Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager window.


STEP – 65 Now a new VMukti server is ready for use as a collaborative conferencing

engine with URL:http://<ServerIP>/vmukti, where ServerIP is the IP address of the system where VMukti server is installed

Before using it, please read carefully the usage scenarios


Scenario – 1: Start the "VMuktiBootstrap" service (Start > Administrative Tools >

Services > VMuktiBootstrap). If server PC is on a live IP, then clients can access the VMukti through

this server from anywhere across the globe. And if server PC belongs to a LAN, then clients can access the VMukti through this server under the LAN only.

Do not browse VMukti URL on server PC Browse VMukti from other PCs (clients) with URL:

http://<ServerIP>/vmukti> where ServerIP is the IP address of the system where VMukti server is installed.

Start participating in collaborative conference.

Scenario – 2: Stop the "VMuktiBootstrap" service (Start > Administrative Tools >

Services > VMuktiBootstrap). If server PC is on a live IP, then clients can access the VMukti through

this server from anywhere across the globe. And if server PC belongs to a LAN, then clients can access the VMukti through this server under the LAN only.

Browse VMukti URL on server PC Browse VMukti from other PCs (clients) with URL:

Server-user can use VMukti in one of the above scenarios. And for adding buddies in VMukti collaborative conferencing installed now on the server-user’s server, send the URL( http://<ServerIP>/vmukti> ) to clients. For clients, download and install VMukti client, no need to follow the usage scenarios and just browse the URL found from server-user.
