The Writing Lives project had four objectives:

1. To advance understanding of how to recruit digital media to improve the quality (accuracy, currency, usefulness, and accessibility) of biographical information about Australia's elite sports women.

2. To contribute to improving the digital media coverage (and mainstream media coverage) of Australia's elite sports women.

3. To establish a trusted source for sports information about elite sport women that meets the needs of the National Sport Information Centre’s Clearinghouse members.

4. To provide the Australian community with a trusted source to use or contribute to this information.

Our aspiration in this project was to transform the digital landscape of Australian sport.

The production of new open access resources about Australian sportswomen during the project did this, we believe.

We are mindful that not too much should be read into visits to Wikipedia pages.

We note, however, that during the Olympics and Paralympics there were two million visits to pages about Australian sportswomen.

385 pages were developed on Wikipedia during the Writing Lives project. Many of them constituted new pages on Wikipedia whilst some were developed from existing pages.
